In a post on social media, Benfica uploaded a video of Tyson draped in a club scarf as he spoke to fans.
“Congratulations on a 120-year anniversary,” the former heavyweight champion of the world said. “Black Panther forever.”
Black Panther was the nickname given to Benfica legend Eusebio, one of the best players the world has ever seen.
During his career, he won the European Cup, Ballon d’Or and 11 league titles with Benfica, scoring 473 times in 440 appearances for the club.
Whether Iron Mike watched Eusebio in his younger years is not known but this is not the first time that he has showed his support for Benfica.
In fact, Tyson has had a soft spot for the Portuguese side for at least a decade and has worn their shirts several times in the past.
He has even been with the Benfica squad to take photos, posing with the team.
His love for Benfica stemmed from one of his close pals gifting him a shirt a long time ago, kickstarting an unlikely love affair.
