Floyd Mayweather Jr. announced Saturday he and John Gotti III agreed to a rematch on Aug. 24 in Mexico City.

The pair previously fought in June 2023. The exhibition was ended in the sixth round. Gotti continued to throw punches at Mayweather after the stoppage, which sparked a wider brawl in and out of the ring.

Gotti, who’s the grandson of the late New York mob boss John Gotti, told Ariel Helwani on The MMA Hour shortly after the event he was open to a return encounter. He said Mayweather might have a hard time turning down the idea based on how much attention they generated from their post-fight melee.

Mayweather previously announced the two would square off during the week of Super Bowl LVIII. However, that came to nothing.

Floyd Mayweather Jr’s latest exhibition fight ends in mass brawl after ‘early stoppage’

The 47-year-old has maintained his retirement from boxing after beating UFC star Conor McGregor in 2017 and running his record to a perfect 50-0. Since then, he has scheduled a series of exhibitions, making no bones about the fact he’s getting paid handsomely for much less work than would be required in an official fight.

Anthony Joshua and Daniel Dubois both might pack a punch, but they don’t hit as hard as David Price.

That is, at least, according to British heavyweight boxer Frazer Clarke, who has been in the ring with all three men. Joshua and Dubois are set to go head to head for the IBF heavyweight title on September 21 after undisputed champion Oleksandr Usyk was forcibly stripped of the belt.

Speaking on the Toe2Toe podcast, Andy Scott, Andy Clarke and Dan Azeez analysed Joshua vs Dubois

The bout pits two of the heaviest hitters in boxing against one another. But judging by Clarke’s recent comments, neither man can hold a candle to Price, who retired back in 2021.

It’s a different kind of punch but I think that on a single shot probably Joshua just [punches harder than Dubois],” Clarke, 32, told Boxing Social. “Joshua comes with a bit more speed than Dubois so they come sharp, Dubois is a real thud.

Everything is ready for the fight at the Barclays Center in New York, where Ryan García will seek to defeat the World Boxing Council (WBC) super lightweight champion Devin Haney.

Ryan García arrives at the New York bout with a record of 24 wins (20 by KO) and 1 loss. His only defeat came in his penultimate fight against Gervonta Davis, where he was technically knocked out in the seventh round in April 2023. After that loss, the Mexican-American returned to the ring in December and defeated Oscar Duarte by knockout.

On the other hand, Haney arrives after being crowned as the WBC super lightweight champion in his debut in the category, defeating Regis Prograis by unanimous decision in December 2023. Previously, he was the undisputed lightweight champion after defeating Vasyl Lomachenko by unanimous decision in May 2023.

Anthony Joshua has confirmed he will return to the ring in September following his KO win against Francis Ngannou.

Former two-time heavyweight world champion Joshua extended his unbeaten streak to four fights last month when he dropped Ngannou twice before stopping him for good in the second round. ‘AJ’ has been promised a shot at the undisputed world titles in his next fight, which Tyson Fury and Oleksandr Usyk are competing for next month.

When asked about his next fight on The Jonathan Ross Show, ‘AJ’ said: “Around September is when I’ve been told. I was hoping June. I’ve got some time to go on dates now and mingle a little bit. I’m training at the minute, I’ve got two months before I get into training camp.”

Queensbury Promotions are hosting a Wembley Stadium event later this year, according to Derek Chisora, and he recently claimed Joshua will be headlining the card. “He will fight the winner of Daniel Dubois and [Filip] Hrgovic in Wembley.

The highly anticipated showdown between Jake Paul and Mike Tyson on July 20 in Texas will not feature headguards, dispelling rumors stirred by British heavyweight Derek Chisora.

While specific details regarding the fight’s format and regulations remain undisclosed, Paul‘s business partner, Nakisa Bidarian, refuted Chisora‘s unfounded claims.

Unequivocally there is no headgear for Paul vs Tyson,” Bidarian wrote on Instagram.

Tyson returned to the ring for an exhibition bout against Roy Jones Jr. in 2020. With a career marked by remarkable achievements, his clash with Paul marks another intriguing chapter.

The fight was initially proposed to take place on February 17 but the bout was pushed back after Fury suffered a cut in one of his final sparring sessions.

After a short break, Fury is now back in the gym preparing for the four-belt shootout and recently released some training footage on social media.Tyson Fury and Oleksandr Usyk confirm undisputed heavyweight world championship title fight will be next | Boxing News | Sky Sports

‘The Gypsy King’ uploaded a clip of him being put through his paces in a gruelling conditioning session that included sledge pushes and jump squats.

Fury certainly looked like he was pushing himself but fans were less than impressed by what they were watching.

Scottie does everything else so well.” -said an impressed Rory McIlroy about Scottie Scheffler at the 2024 Genesis Invitational. However, the PGA Tour pro being a nice guy is, as per a certain journalist, what gives an edge to the competitor. Interestingly, a similar situation occurred when the Northern Irishman gave honest advice to the current No.1 which then went ahead and backfired as the 34-year-old was dominated by the latter at the recent signature event.

Well, it seems what Paul McGinley said about the athlete during the interview with Golf Channel does hold true. Meanwhile, the broadcaster was also extremely appreciative of how “guarded” Tiger Woods was as he carried himself out on the course all the while urging the players not to give their competitors an edge, much like the legend of the game!

“I think Rory is at his best when he’s got an edge,” stated McGinley as he recounted the recent biennial event which saw the 4-time major champ have his best-ever Ryder Cup performance. However, adding on, he was quick to point out how much of a pleasant person he really is. “He’s such a nice guy,” divulged the journalist before mentioning how such a demeanor can work against him. He said, “When he’s asked a question, he gives such an honest answer. But sometimes that gives an edge to your competitor,

Raducanu, who reached the fourth round in California last year, lost 6-3 7-5 to two-time major winner Sabalenka as she continues her comeback.

The 21-year-old, ranked 250 in the world, was a wildcard at the tournament following an injury-disrupted 2023.

“It was a good success, I would say,” Raducanu said of her week.

“I think I have handled myself a lot better on the match court. I was a lot more positive and hungry to play, and that showed I think in the tennis that I did play.”

The shock 2021 US Open champion made her return to the tour in January following an eight-month absence, during which she had operations on both of her wrists and surgery on her ankle.

Italian Nardi, ranked 123 in the world, had originally been knocked out in qualifying but reached the main draw after another player’s withdrawal.

He hit 34 winners in a 6-4 3-6 6-3 win over the 24-time Grand Slam champion, converting match point with an ace.

“It’s crazy,” said Nardi, the lowest-ranked player to beat Djokovic at ATP Masters 1,000 or Grand Slam level.

“I don’t know [how I held my nerve], I think it is a miracle, because I am a 20-year-old guy, and beating Novak.”

Djokovic, 36, who was beaten by eventual winner Jannik Sinner in the semi-finals of the Australian Open, is yet to win a tournament this year.

“No titles this year. That’s not something I’m used to,” said the Serb, who hit 17 winners but made nine unforced errors.

Former world heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua returned to training on Monday two after brutally knocking out Francis Ngannou in the main event of their ‘Knockout Chaos’ clash on Friday, March 8.

Joshua dropped the former UFC heavyweight champion three times in two rounds with the final right hand closing the show in dramatic fashion with Ngannou needing oxygen and a doctor before he got back up.

Now Tyson Fury and Oleksandr Usyk are set to meet in a bout on May 18 that will unify all four belts for the first time in heavyweight history.

However, the pair are contracted to an immediate rematch, likely ruling them out for the whole year and Joshua has expressed that he will not sit and wait with his eyes already set on a summer return.
