Tyson Fury has been brutally told he would be “knocked out cold” in an ultimate heavyweight fight against Mike Tyson. The boxing icon, after whom Fury was named, is still the youngest person to win a heavyweight world title at just 20.

Asked about a potential fight between the two Tysons, ex-world champion Carl Froch said he thinks ‘Iron Mike’ would have knocked Fury flat on his back. Froch has been embroiled in a war of wards with Fury’s dad John, who even dared the former super-middleweight to a fight, promising they could fill Wembley Stadium. Outspoken John Fury even put out a challenge to Mike Tyson.

Froch told Lucky Block: “Mike Tyson knocked out a few big lumps and tall guys too. I reckon Tyson Fury could keep him at bay for a bit, but we’re talking about a prime Mike Tyson, who was world champ at 20. I think a prime Mike Tyson beats almost anybody. Just the way he used to be in the ring, he was a dangerous, dangerous man. He never stopped throwing punches. He used to roll his way into range.

The undisputed super middleweight king Canelo Alvarez seeks his next mega-fight, and the pound-for-pound great Terence Crawford has emerged as a potential challenger. While a rematch with Errol Spence Jr remains a possibility, the prospect of Alvarez facing Crawford has captured the imagination of the boxing world.

However, a significant hurdle stands in the way: weight. Crawford currently reigns at 147lbs, requiring a substantial jump to face the Mexican superstar at super middleweight. This raises questions: would Crawford be willing to make such a drastic weight change, risking his current titles and potentially compromising his physical edge? But Alvarez has taken a subtle dig at his rival.
Canelo Alvarez has recently posted an Instagram Story, where he uploaded a picture of his poker table. Now. many would wonder where Crawford comes into play here. Well, in the photo, just above the poker chips, there’s a yellow placard taped on the table with black bold letters reading,

So much so, that an X account, D H, took a screenshot of the story and posted it for the fans. The post currently has 24.1k views on it.

Woods junior will compete in one of four pre-qualifiers as he aims to reach the Cognizant Classic.

The top 25 players and ties advance to Monday’s final qualifier, with four then earning places in the main field.

Rory McIlroy will be among the stars playing for a prize fund of £7.1m at PGA National in Florida.

If Charlie Woods is going to join the Northern Irishman, he will have to come through the 18-hole pre-qualifier at Lost Lake Golf Club, where he has been grouped with Ireland’s Ruaidhri McGee and American Olin Browne Jr.

The players who come through that stage will go to the final qualifier at Tesoro Club’s Palmer Course in a bid to clinch their spot at the Cognizant Classic, which takes place from 29 February to 3 March.

All About Tiger Woods' Son Charlie Axel Woods

The teenage Woods has competed in the last four editions of the PNC Championship exhibition event alongside his father, who was forced to withdraw during the Genesis Invitational last week because of illness.

Charlie Woods finished tied 17th in the boys’ 14-15 division of last year’s Notah Begay III Junior Golf National Championship, with 15-time major champion Tiger acting as his caddie.

Meanwhile, LIV Golf’s Joaquin Niemann is one of three players to have been given a special invitation to play in the Masters in early April.

Lewis Hamilton has been given extra motivation in his bid to pip Max Verstappen to the World Championship crown in 2024 after Formula E CEO Jeff Dodds made a bet worth £250,000 to charity if any driver can beat the Red Bull star in the standings this season.

Verstappen was nigh-on unbeatable last year, winning 19 out of a possible 22 Grands Prix and breaking countless single-season records en route to his third successive Drivers’ Championship title.

Hamilton, meanwhile, was unable to claim a single race victory as Mercedes ended the year winless for the first time in over a decade. The legendary Brit is still hunting for a record-breaking eighth World Championship, but this will only be possible if the Silver Arrows can produce machinery capable of challenging Red Bull.

Speaking to TNT Sports presenter Jermaine Jenas ahead of pre-season testing in Bahrain, Dodds said: “99 per cent, he gets that trophy. I’ll tell you what, if he doesn’t win it – so there’s 20 drivers in Formula One – If he doesn’t win it… so there’s 19 other drivers – if any of the other 19 drivers win it, we’ll give a quarter of a million dollars to the charity of the other driver that wins it.”

Andy Roddick has dismissed the alarmist discourse surrounding Carlos Alcaraz’s recent dip in form, asserting that it’s unjust to judge him harshly simply because he hasn’t reached the same heights as tennis legends Roger Federer, Rafael Nadal, Novak Djokovic, and Serena Williams.

Alcaraz’s shock defeat to Nicolas Jarry in the semifinals of the Argentina Open not only put an end to his title defense but also extended his title drought to nine tournaments since his triumph at the Wimbledon Championships last year. The Spaniard’s slump has become a prevalent topic of discussion in the tennis community, with concerns raised about his ability to bounce back.

However, Andy Roddick and tennis journalist Jon Wertheim shut down such concerns on the latest episode of the ‘Served with Andy Roddick’ podcast. Wertheim emphasized that Carlos Alcaraz had already achieved a career worthy of the Hall of Fame, having won two Grand Slam titles before the age of 21.

He also pointed out that Federer, Nadal, and Djokovic were outliers for their dominance, suggesting that Alcaraz’s career trajectory was much more reasonable and common.

Francis Ngannou thinks Tyson Fury can handle a punch better than Anthony Joshua.

Ngannou, the ex-UFC champion, impressed fight fans with his professional boxing debut against Fury in October, putting the heavyweight champion on the canvas in the third round. Now, he’s getting ready for his second professional fight against Joshua on March 8.

Despite flooring Fury in his previous fight, Ngannou still lost by just one point. It was a confusing call that some people didn’t agree with. Ngannou now hopes that if he beats Joshua, he might get to duke it out with Fury once more after the Gypsy King’s heavyweight unification clash with Oleksandr Usyk is settled in May.

Anthony Joshua vs. Francis Ngannou vs. Tyson Fury: How does the ex-UFC star compare against the boxing heavyweights in height, weight, and reach

When Ngannou was asked if he thought Joshua could take a hit like the one Fury did, Ngannou told DAZN: “I have a doubt about that, Tyson has showed that he is very resilient. I saw him come back from a knockdown that you wouldn’t believe somebody would come back from. I think he is probably one of the most resistant people out there.”

But Ngannou also promised not to underestimate Joshua: “That is not a disrespect to AJ. I don’t believe that Joshua will take what Tyson did. Even going to the fight, I knew that even if I knock him down I will not get excited. That it wouldn’t mean anything because he always comes back, so I had to prepare for a very endured person. Psychologically that’s how I was.

Talk of Gervonta “Tank” Davis’ next opponent being Conor Benn has already fizzled. According to Matchroom Boxing promoter Eddie Hearn, Davis turned down a lucrative offer to make the fight happen.

After Benn’s win over Peter Dobson earlier this month, Davis and Benn traded words on social media. The two sides seemed to agree to enter into negotiations for a fight, but Hearn said Davis “didn’t really want to discuss” the offer that was made.

“We made him an offer, which he felt he didn’t want to discuss further,” Hearn told iFL TV. “…It was over the $10 [million guaranteed] but it also had PPV bonuses beyond that, gate bonuses beyond that. So it could’ve been $20 million, could’ve been $25 million. But he didn’t really want to discuss it.

“I made him an offer that I felt was an offer that was quite powerful for the fight and could also lead to a lot more than that beyond the basic but, you know…I think he probably doesn’t really understand the dynamic of the deal, the numbers. I might go back.”

Conor Benn and Gervonta Davis engaged in war of words

Benn is still waiting on the results of his recent hearing with the British Boxing Board of Control in regards to his failed drug tests ahead of his planned 2023 fight with Chris Eubanks Jr.

Hearn said that the team has pivoted to several other opponents for Benn for a fight that he hopes will take place in the U.K., assuming the results of the BBBofC hearing go their way. Among those opponents is former junior welterweight and welterweight champion Danny Garcia.

Claressa Shields believes that her MMA experience is improving her as a boxer.

Shields is the undisputed middleweight champion in the boxing ring, and has one win and one defeat in her nascent MMA career.

She fights in the PFL this Saturday (check your region for the PFL vs. Bellator event live on DAZN.com), and she told Sky Sports that MMA fighters can draw on and improve their boxing skills in the discipline.

“I say that [Joshua-Ngannou will be close] because of how competitive he was against Tyson Fury. Tyson Fury didn’t take the fight seriously. I think that us boxers have this mental thing where we feel like MMA fighters don’t have good boxing,” she said.

“But Francis is one of those fighters who does mostly stand up when he fights. So he has a pretty good boxing background, pretty good stand up.

“But us as boxers don’t really take that seriously coming from an MMA fighter.

“I feel like if Tyson had done his homework he would have seen, okay, this guy can definitely be a challenge.”
