This resulted in Benn’s promoter Hearn sending an official offer to one of Tank’s representatives.

However, a fight between them has not materialised and Hearn said he was told the offer was ‘insulting’.

This week it emerged that Davis has now agreed a deal to face Frank Martin next instead, and will be staying with Al Haymon’s PBC.

And in the early hours of Saturday morning, the American dismissed claims that he turned down $25million to fight Benn by publicly revealing Hearn’s offer.

In the email to Davis’ rep, Hearn wrote: “Gervonta asked me to contact you regarding our offer to fight Conor Benn.

“We would like to talk further regarding this fight and our plan would be to stage this fight in May in the USA.

“We would offer $10million plus an upside on the gate and PPV that I would like to discuss further with you.

“Do you have a good time to discuss this week? Kind regards, Eddie.”

Talk of Gervonta “Tank” Davis’ next opponent being Conor Benn has already fizzled. According to Matchroom Boxing promoter Eddie Hearn, Davis turned down a lucrative offer to make the fight happen.

After Benn’s win over Peter Dobson earlier this month, Davis and Benn traded words on social media. The two sides seemed to agree to enter into negotiations for a fight, but Hearn said Davis “didn’t really want to discuss” the offer that was made.

“We made him an offer, which he felt he didn’t want to discuss further,” Hearn told iFL TV. “…It was over the $10 [million guaranteed] but it also had PPV bonuses beyond that, gate bonuses beyond that. So it could’ve been $20 million, could’ve been $25 million. But he didn’t really want to discuss it.

“I made him an offer that I felt was an offer that was quite powerful for the fight and could also lead to a lot more than that beyond the basic but, you know…I think he probably doesn’t really understand the dynamic of the deal, the numbers. I might go back.”

Conor Benn and Gervonta Davis engaged in war of words

Benn is still waiting on the results of his recent hearing with the British Boxing Board of Control in regards to his failed drug tests ahead of his planned 2023 fight with Chris Eubanks Jr.

Hearn said that the team has pivoted to several other opponents for Benn for a fight that he hopes will take place in the U.K., assuming the results of the BBBofC hearing go their way. Among those opponents is former junior welterweight and welterweight champion Danny Garcia.

“Tank” took to social media to discuss what turned out to be an invisible fight, with the American and his promoter Al Haymon holding no desire to match up against Benn.

The whole episode was merely Davis using his superpowers in the sport to tease Benn before dropping him like a bad habit.

Gervonta Davis had no intention of facing Conor Benn

Speaking to Pro Boxing Fans, Hearn confirmed he’s moving in another direction for Benn after Davis failed to respond to a direct message offer.

“No, not yet [Davis has not responded]. We’ll see where that goes,” Hearn told the outlet. “There’s a lot of movement on Conor Benn.

“There are probably five fights at the moment for Conor Benn. I’m not going to go into them. They are approaching the contractual stage.”

Hearn held court about whether those bouts would be UK-based due to Benn’s current situation with the British Boxing Board of Control.

Ryan Garcia believes that Gervonta Davis’ power isn’t as big of a deal as claimed.

‘KingRy’ recently signed a deal to return to the boxing ring against Devin Haney on April 20. For Garcia, the fight will be his first since a knockout win over Oscar Duarte in December. That stoppage victory was an incredibly important one for the former interim champion.

The bout took place just months after Garcia suffered the first defeat of his career against ‘Tank’. Last April, the two stars met in Las Vegas in the biggest pay-per-view of the year. Despite some early success in the opening round from Garcia, it was largely dominated by Davis.

In the closing seconds of round two, Davis flattened Garcia. While the young boxer was able to climb off the canvas, he wound up being stopped in the seventh round by a body shot. Nearly a year on from that bout, Garcia was asked to rate Davis’ power in an interview.

Speaking with Jack Alter, Garcia argued that the lightweight champion doesn’t hit that hard. Instead, it’s Davis’ precise punching that causes more damage than anything. In the interview, ‘KingRy’ stated

The two phantoms of the lighter-weight divisions, Gervonta Davis and Naoya Inoue might never face each other in the ring. Such a matchup would be a dream come true for many boxing fans. However, the Japanese ‘Monster’ has declined such possibilities yet again. His reason for this refusal lies in a crucial point of debate in boxing circles.

In December last year, Inoue made history by emerging 2x undisputed. It is a feat that only Terence Crawford and Claressa Shields have been able to achieve in the four-belt era. In the wake of such a historic win over Filipino southpaw, Marlon Tapales, fans rallied for the Yokohama-based fighter to compete against his power-punching contemporary in the lightweight division, Gervonta Davis. The proposition was thrashed immediately by Davis. Now, Inoue has concurred with ‘Tank’ on this front, arguing that no matter how lucrative the fight could prove to be, there remains a bigger responsibility he’d rather tend to.

For the 30-year-old fighter, who emerged undisputed in the Bantamweight division in 2022 and Super Bantamweight, last year, his stint in the ring is way beyond lucrative fights and notable wins. He remains loyal to his responsibility toward the sport, which is exactly why his moving beyond featherweight is out of the question, according to him.
