Demetrius Andrade says Terence Crawford could not beat Canelo Alvarez by moving up two divisions

The fight betweenSaul ‘Canelo’ Alvarez and Terence Crawford is still in the realm of total uncertainty, but that does not prevent the whole boxing world from continuing to give its opinion on it.

One of them is Demetrius Andrade, who recently spoke out on the matter, making a statement that, although not surprising, makes him look good with the narrative that the Mexican is almost unbeatable and that there is no one who can knock him down or make him lose on the scorecards.

According to Andrade, Canelo Alvarez would beat Terence Crawford at 168 pounds, and the Omaha, Nebraska native has been moving up in weight, going from 147 pounds to 154, where he was able to finish off Israil Madrimov. However, although Crawford wants to expose his undefeated record against the Mexican, he would have to move up two divisions, and there he would hit a wall.

In words shared with Fight Hub TV, Andrade said he loves Crawford very much, whom he considered “a good friend,” so he did not hesitate to give him some advice: “He saw me beat people up, I saw him beat people up. World Champion Who Sparred Gervonta Davis And Terence Crawford Has No Doubt Who Has More Power

The pair can consider themselves two of the most clinical finishers in the sport when they have opponents hurt, though ‘Tank’ Davis can arguably produce those moments out of nowhere more so than ‘Bud’ Crawford.

At least that is the belief of WBO Welterweight World Champion Brian Norman Jr, who explained the difference in power and named the man who had the edge with one hitter quitters in an interview with Showbizz the Adult.

Davis is currently WBA World Champion in the lightweight ranks – the division Crawford started out in – after success at feather and super-feather. He will defend his belt against Lamont Roach Jr on March 1 and recently stunned fans by announcing he will retire at the end of 2025 after another two fights.

Crawford has made his way all the way up to super-welterweight, his latest outing coming in August and being a world title win over previously undefeated Israil Madrimov, though Madrimov managed to last the distance and end a ten-fight stoppage streak for the American.

Oleksandr Usyk cemented his legacy as an all-time great when he beat Tyson Fury for a second time in Saudi Arabia.

The unified heavyweight champion boxed brilliantly against the bigger and taller Fury, using his speed to land quick jabs to Fury’s body and face. Fury landed hard shots, but Usyk landed the more efficient blows in the eyes of the judges.

Usyk won via unanimous decision (116-112, 116-112, 116-112). The Ukrainian landed more shots (179 of 423 shots – 42.3%) compared to Fury (114 of 509 – 28.3%) and landed 20+ shots three times in the last four rounds. It was the second straight loss for Fury, who attempted to become a three-time champion.

Many wondered if the judges would be in favor of Fury, as there was interest in a trilogy. In the end, some of the top stars in the world praised Usyk’s skills and the efforts of both men.

The Only Man To Face Both Terence Crawford And Jaron Ennis Didn’t Hesitate To Name Who Hits Harder

Jaron Ennis missed out on facing Terence Crawford at welterweight but may move up in the future to make it happen.

The two undefeated Americans are at different stages of their careers, however there’s little doubt it is a match-up that would entice fans. Crawford was undisputed at 147 pounds before moving up to 154 to become a four-weight world champion by beating Israil Madrimov.

‘Boots’ Ennis benefitted by picking up the vacant IBF Welterweight World Title. He has expressed interest in meeting Crawford in the ring when he makes his eventual move up.

One man to face both is David Avanesyan. Crawford controlled their 2022 fight from the start, landing clean punches and hurting Avanesyan throughout. In the sixth round, a devastating left uppercut-right hook combination sent Avanesyan to the canvas, ending the fight.

Ennis also put in a dominant performance against the tough Avanesyan when they met earlier this year. In the fifth, he dropped the Armenian fighter with a counter left hook. Although Avanesyan beat the count, the ringside physician advised the referee to stop the fight before the start of the sixth round due to a cut over Avanesyan’s eye, resulting in a TKO victory for Ennis.

Floyd Mayweather introduces elite Terence Crawford title matchup

Mayweather identified Jaron Ennis as the prime candidate to try and dethrone the pound-for-pound king of boxing.

He took his stance on the grounds of Crawford not being able to land a bout against Canelo Alvarez or a rematch with Errol Spence Jr.

Now seven months removed from his seventh-round knockout of Spence Jr., Mayweather thinks that Crawford and Ennis is next up on the itinerary.

The Money Team founder sat down for an interview with Fight Hype and gave sound reason for a Crawford and Ennis welterweight contest:

“Somebody’s got to give ‘Boots’ the opportunity. It’s been difficult for Terence Crawford to get the Spence rematch done, it’s been difficult to get the Canelo fight done, so his other option is to fight ‘Boots’ Ennis,” Mayweather said

‘Boots’ Ennis possesses the speed, flash, and technical skills to bother Crawford. He’d also be the last major pugilist at 147 pounds for Crawford to potentially best before moving up in weight, which he’s long desired.

Mayweather also drew from his fight with Canelo Alvarez back in 2013. He stated that giving Alvarez a chance helped boost his profile. Win or lose, Ennis is at a juncture in his career where a strong performance against Crawford would similarly pay immeasurable dividends.

Terence Crawford claims one fighter would ‘smash’ Edgar Berlanga

Edgar Berlanga has his sights set on the biggest names at super middleweight following his first win of 2024 on Saturday.

Berlanga made easy work of Padraig McCrory with a knockout in the sixth round of their contest in Orlando, which led to calls from his promoter Eddie Hearn for undisputed 168lb champion Saul “Canelo” Alvarez to face Berlanga next.

However, in a post on X, unified welterweight champion Terence Crawford named an alternative opponent for Berlanga and one who he believes can beat the Puerto Rican.

@EdgarBerlangaJr coo peoples but I think ma brother @SoColdNelson will smash him. It will be a good fight for both guys too,” Crawford wrote.

The fighter Crawford was referring to was one of his stablemates Steven Nelson.

Nelson is currently 19-0 with 15 knockouts, and last fought in July when he beat Rowdy Legend Montgomery by unanimous decision.

As a result, the 33-year-old feels a match against ‘Bud’ Crawford is simply not worth it. However, Keyshawn Davis feels otherwise.

According to Keyshawn Davis, despite everyone expecting a sure win from Canelo, the Mexican fought several smaller fighters in the past. Therefore, Davis struggles to believe that Canelo would turn down ‘Bud’ simply because everyone thinks the Mexican has a better chance at winning. “Everybody knew he was going to beat Charlo, right? Right or wrong? He was going to beat Caleb Plant, right? Right or wrong? So, sounds like excuses to me,” said Davis.

Teofimo Lopez insists he’s still intent on making a fight against Terence Crawford, and all the noise coming from Keyshawn Davis and Shakur Stevenson is just a distraction because they don’t want him to fight what he calls ‘their mack daddy.’ Check out some of what Lopez had to say below.

“They don’t want to fight. Same thing with this kid Keyshawn Davis they talking about. He just wants an easy route to become famous. So big-headed, completely big-headed, hasn’t done anything in the sport of boxing, doesn’t even have a world title. “It’s all clout. They don’t want me to fight their big boy. They don’t want me to fight their mack daddy who is Terence ‘Bud’ Crawford. He’s the mack daddy of all those guys. And when I said I’ll fight (Crawford) at a catchweight, he knows what I meant by that because I been saying it to everybody prior…between 147 and 154 I’ll fight you. But he says ‘go back to the drawing board.’ That man don’t want no part of me, man.

“Crawford is the only reason I came back, anyways. I get that triple crown…we probably gonna fight next year or the end of this year, but he gonna have to take it.”
